Director Shinji Higuchi confirmed there are two Attack on Titan live-action films in the works for a summer 2015 release in Japan, following a Subaru Forester commercial release. Currently filming on Hashima Island and in Nagasaki Prefecture, the script was written by Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods’ Yuusuke Watanabe together with Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama and film critic Tomohiro Machiyama.
Isayama's Attack on Titan’s films will maintain the basic storyline: humankind living inside cities surrounded by trench walls to protect themselves from the dangers of the Titans, or human eating giants. Set to star in the films are Haruma Miura, Hiroki Hasegawa, Kiko Mizuhara, Kanata Hongou,Takahiro Miura, Nanami Sakuraba, Satoru Matsuo, Satomi Ishihara, Taki Pierre, Jun Kunimura, Shū Watanabe, Ayame Misaki, and Rina Takeda; to name a few.
The films are backed by long standing fandom, as Hajime Isayama's original Attack on Titan saw four spin off mangas come out last year as well as a 25-episode anime of the original.
For North American fans, no news of a release date yet, however Kodansha Comics will be publishing Isayama's original manga and releasing three of the four spinoff manga and an Attack on Titan Guidebooks: INSIDE & OUTSIDE with a Vertical published Attack on Titan: Before the Fall novel series.
As no official trailer has yet to be released, there is but a Subaru commercial (seriously) featuring a Forester trailing down winding roads in search of refuge from the Titans. See below for evidence of such.
