Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones may be kicking himself in five years. He told the press earlier this week that he almost drafted Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. Time will tell if Jones comes to regret that decision.
Since Tony Romo is the Chosen One in Dallas, it wouldn't have made sense to draft a prime-time quarterback to ride the bench indefinitely, but it was still a tough call (via NBC Sports):
"I want you to know that almost as I was handing in the card, it was that close to putting that Manziel card in. It was that close."
Jones recognizes the talent Manziel has and the type of NFL player he could be (via Star Telegram):
"But Manziel is special. I know him personally. I know that he is going to be a success in the National Football League, and it was a hard decision. And it is one that I will probably have for the rest of my career think about."
