Jim Brown Super Bowl Ring Stolen? Former NFL Legend Suing Auction House

Famed Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown is suing an auction house for selling stolen property. His 1964 Super Bowl ring. The former NFL legend alleges that he gave the ring to a family member, but expressly prohibited them from selling it. The auction house, however, claims they did nothing wrong.

Brown says the ring is very sentimental, and was meant to remain a family heirloom (via New York Daily News):

"[The suit alleges that Brown]... Never authorized anyone, including any member of his family, to sell or otherwise dispose of his 1964 NFL Championship ring."

However Leland's, the group auctioning the ring off, says they have followed the proper guidelines (via NBC Sports):

"We never sell anything that has been stolen or not authenticated. It's unfortunate that [Brown] has gone in this direction, but it came from a family member who turned around and sold it."
