Joseph Robert Patterson was already facing serious criminal charges in the form of second-degree murder, manslaughter and aggravated assault after his girlfriend's son died while in his card. But now he's also being charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping on the mother. 2 year-old Tyrese Ruffin was the son of Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson. The pro football giant has desperately tried to move on after this tragedy, getting married this month, and celebrating a new offensive strategy with the Vikings.
Not only is Patterson being charged with the murder of Peterson's son, but he also allegedly attacked his mother last month (via ABC News):
"Twenty-eight-year-old Joseph Patterson was arraigned Thursday in Sioux Falls on charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping. He's accused of attacking the mother of Tyrese Ruffin in June and holding her against her will for over an hour."
On the football field, however, Peterson is focused on a new offensive scheme that should keep defenses honest (via CBS Minnesota):
"I feel like, you know, in the past we kinda have been predictable. I'm sure you guys have wrote stories about being predicable in the past seven years. You won't be able to write that story this year."
