The Clippers' Chris Paul had the chance to meet with President Obama on July 21 to discuss the My Brother's Keeper Initiative, a mentoring and networking program for minorities, at the White House. But the MBKI isn't the only way in which Paul has asserted himself as a voice for people of color recently. The NBA star has also strongly suggested that he, his coach Doc Rivers and a number of other key players in the Clippers organization might boycott next season if their racist team owner Donald Sterling is still manning the ship. The threat, if enacted, could send a ripple throughout the league, and could send a strong message to Commissioner Adam Silver that behavior such as Sterling's will not be tolerated.
According to TMZ, Paul introduced the President at a town hall discussion about the My Brother's Keeper Initiative (via TMZ):
"... The MBKI is a program aimed at providing 'boys and young men of color' with mentoring, support networks, and the skills they need to find a good job or go to college and work their way into the middle class."
Paul is addressing racial politics in his day job, too. He and several key members of the Clippers organization are contemplating a sit-out in protest of the leagues inability to get rid of Sterling, whom they consider a blight on the NBA (via TMZ):
"That's something me and Doc are both talking about. Something has to happen, and something needs to happen soon -- sooner rather than later."
