Victor Cruz NFL Wants 100 Catches After High School Girlfriend Marriage Proposal To Engaged Fiancee [VIDEO]

NFL star Victor Cruz is celebrating right now because he just got engaged to his high school girlfriend Elaina. His brand new fiancée said yes when he proposed marriage in front of friends and family on July 13. But Cruz isn't content to settle for marital bliss. He has set some ambitious goals for himself this season. The Giants receiver wants to get 100 catches this year under their new West Coast Offense, which would break the franchise record for single-season receptions.

Cruz, age 27, gathered his loved ones for Sunday dinner two weeks ago. And then, when everyone's eyes were closed, Cruz bent his knee and popped the question (via TMZ):

"Cruz was leading friends and family in a prayer over the food -- when he suddenly pulled off the biggest trick play of his career ... surprising Elaina by getting down on his knee and pulling out a fat diamond ring!

"Of course, Elaina says 'Yes!' ... and the crowd goes wild -- it's pretty emotional stuff.

"FYI -- Victor and Elaina have known each other since 2003 ... when the two were just high school kids."

Fortunately, someone was able to capture the moment on video. You can watch it here:

But instead of resting on his laurels, Cruz is planning on having his best year ever for the New York football Giants. He says he has been watching old tapes of San Francisco great Jerry Rice, who flourished under Bill Walsh's West Coast Offense in the 80's and 90's. With the Giants implementing their version of the system, Cruz is confident he can reach his goals and have a career defining season (via New York Daily News):

"That's the goal. I just want to be as good a player as I can be. The goal is definitely 100. I know Steve Smith got it a couple of years ago. But that's the goal, and with that comes wins, with that comes touchdowns, and all that is helping the team, so that's all that matters."
