Professional skateboarder Jereme Rogers has been out of jail, for almost a month, but he still remembers what life was like on the inside. The young skater spent 70 days in lockup and says he had to line himself up with the white guys- the "peckerwoods" as they're called on the inside. He recently shared his thoughts on the experience, including celebrity lockup and the racist self-segregation that often takes place in prison.
After an alleged nightclub incident in April, Rogers was accused of being involved in a brutal assault (via TMZ):
"Our sources say the victim filed a police report after the attack, accusing Rogers and several others of attacking him inside Lure nightclub on March 16 -- and an eyewitness says the victim had a broken nose, cuts, and shoe marks on his body.
"Rogers has been charged with 1 count of felony assault likely to produce great bodily injury, and 1 count of felony battery."
Rogers was arrested in April on charges of felony assault, to which he pled not guilty. But in the process he got busted for "some traffic stuff" and ended up in jail anyway. Although, unfortunately, he didn't get protective custody like Chris Brown did (via TMZ):
"During his stint, Rogers says he learned some hard truths about lockup -- including the fact it's seriously segregated inside ... telling us he had to align with the white people (aka Peckerwoods) ... 'otherwise you get f**ked up man.'
"And get this -- Rogers says there's still one HUGE CELEB who went through L.A. County jail who made such a big impression, the guards still talk about him."
That huge celeb was none other than Robert Downey, Jr., who also "ran with the 'Woods."
