PS4 Beats Xbox One in June Sales, Can New August 2014 Update & Price Cut Save System?

Recently, The Microsoft Xbox One has made a series of desperate moves to improve the sales of the struggling system. With the help of the Titanfall game bundle and a new Kinect free price cut, the system has managed to double their sales numbers for the month of June. However, despite their efforts the Sony Playstation 4 still managed to trump the Xbox One in sales for the month. The new price point is certainly helping to boost sales for the platform, but price wasn’t the One’s only problem. The system has faced criticism from many over it’s lack of games, poor app design and bad customer service. Will the coming August 2014 system update do anything to change gamers viewers on the system?

The Microsoft Xbox One has proven to not be a successful as the company originally hoped. However, the system’s latest Hail Mary play could help change some of that. The X1 recently abandoned its Kinect feature, for a cheaper and more competitively priced version. The increase has seen some difference in the systems sales, with the Xbox.com X Wire blog reporting:

“Over the past month, we’ve seen a strong spike in interest in our Xbox One console options, including the new $399 offering, and the amazing lineup of games announced during E3. Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th, we’ve seen sales of Xbox One more than double* in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales.”

The new sales numbers are impressive, however, the NPD numbers still put the PS4 ahead in sales for June.

The system is planning an update for August, where it has been reported that minor changes including, mobile purchases, a low battery indicator and online friend notifications will be added to the system.

What do you think? Are the price cuts and new update features enough to sway you to buy an Xbox One, or are the desperate moves too little too late? What system do you prefer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
