Matthew McConaughey Quits ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Sequel Fights Chris Hemsworth for ‘Brotherhood’ Movie Role? [VIDEO]

Apparently now that Dazed and Confused star Matthew McConaughey has won an Oscar for his Dallas Buyers Club role, he's too high class to play Dallas in Channing Tatum's bi-sexual Magic Mike XXL sequel. Word has it that Matt quit and is instead laser focused in on getting the lead role in Jose Padilha's new movie, The Brotherhood. According to the latest tabloid gossip news updates McConaughey is currently battling Thor's Chris Hemsworth for the job. It's said that Jose had his heart set on casting Chris, but Matthew's brand new Academy Award is pretty hard to argue with at the moment.

It's bad news for Magic Mike and Thor fans alike as word has it that Matthew McConaughey is forgoing the reprisal of his strip club owning Dallas character to instead steal Chris Hemsworth new gig.

Word has it that Matt is hell-bound and determined to land the starring role in Jose Pagilha's up-coming Brotherhood flick, and according to an insider who spoke to Star for the August 4, print edition all he has to do is get Thor fired first:

"Mathew has been calling director Jose Padilha every single day to beg for it and hopes that persistence pays off.

"But the casting directors love Chris, and they all think he'll nail it.

"It's a total toss-up--and neither actor is happy about it!"

Sad but true--Magic Mike costar Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias told the Indie Wire that he was pretty sure that McConaughey had no intentions to return for the stripping sequel:

"Word has it that Matt's probably not going to be involved, because he's worth a lot of money now--that whole Oscar thing--so, but yeah, I've signed on for part two."

Oh, well...nothing good ever lasts--just ask Chris Hemsworth.
