Carmelo Anthony Staying With Knicks, Refusing Scores' Free Lap Dances But Wants Pizza Instead

Newly recommitted Knick Carmelo Anthony made waves last week when he told TMZ reporters that he would be refusing Scores New York's offer of free lap dances for life. Instead, Melo said, he wouldn't mind a free slice of pizza now and again. The 30-year old small forward, born in Brooklyn, said that he is "not messing around" with the strip club scene, possibly because his wife La La is no joke. He is happy to be staying in New York, however, and said that he only entertained other offers to make an informed decision based on what is best for him and his family.

Anthony must have made athletes everywhere look bad when he publicly declined the offer from Scores to get free lap dances for life. Instead, he wants another kind of pie (sorry) (via Give Me Sport):

"Melo did say that he would be open to a bit of free pizza action however, but i don't think there are any New York Pizzeria's who are going to be queuing up to offer Anthony pizza judging competitions."

The superstar Knick says he wanted to stay all along, but sometimes business is business. Surely Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher can't begrudge him a chance to see what was on the table (via Huffington Post):

"'A few years ago I dreamed of coming back to New York City, the place of my birth, and on February 23, 2011 that became a reality,' Anthony wrote in the statement at ThisIsMelo.com. 'This organization has supported me and in return, I want to stay and build here with this city and my team. At this pivotal juncture in my career, I owed it to myself and my family to explore all of the options available to me. Through it all, my heart never wavered.'"
