Samuel L. Jackson Says Violent Movies Aren't To Blame For Sandy Hook Massacre

Actor Samuel L. Jackson says violent movies or video games are not to blame for the Sandy Hook massacre that took place on Friday.

Jackson is yet another celebrity who has add their two-cents about the terrible tragedy that saw 26 people die at gunpoint at a Connecticut elementary school.

The actor, who has touted a few guns while in movies, told the Los Angeles Times that he didn't see why violent movies should be blamed for the unfortunate episode that happened almost a week ago.

"I don't think movies or video games have anything to do with it... I don't think it's about more gun control, I grew up in the South with guns everywhere and we never shot anyone," he said. "This (shooting) is about people who aren't taught the value of life... We need to stop deranged people from getting access to guns.".

Star of the Fox TV show "24" Dennis Haysbert also commented on the tragedy.

According to Hollywood.com, the actor said violence in films just shows what is going on in the real world and believes the only way to curtail the violence is society is to get politicians to start dialogue with America's National Rifle Association (NRA) before another incident occurs.

"What we have to do is we have to really seriously deal with the gun culture we're saddled with," Haysbert said. "It's the culture in which we live. It starts with the Congressmen. We need to enact some strong legislation and stop taking the money from the NRA and lining their pockets with it.

"This has always happened. How many tragedies do we have to endure? Whether it's the theatre in Colorado or Columbine also in Colorado, and Newtown, Connecticut has some of the most stringent gun laws in America," he told WENN. "But yet we still have a tragedy like this. I mean, come on, kids five to 10 years old! Really?! If this doesn't shake up Washington and shake up state legislation across the country, I don't know what will."

On Friday, Dec. 14, 20-year old Adam Lanza opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School killing 26 people the bulk of which were children ages six to seven years old. Lanza also murdered his won mother Nancy Lanza while in the killing spree.
