Digital Video Content Editor

Candidates for the position must have previous editing and video/audio experience.

Daily tasks will include:

Maintain overall production calendar: strategize, PR reach out shoot, edits and publish dates
Operate Canon EOs 60D camera on shoots for original and distinct news video content, ranging from highly produced to quick turnaround
Research and gather elements and assets needed for both highly produced and quick turnaround stories
Publishing of videos on multiple platforms, including YouTube, Vimeo, etc
Assist with programming on video platforms and social distribution
Set up shoots i.e camera setup, lights, wrap, note-taking, runs; editing and work closely with editorial staff to develop video concepts.

Requirements:

Solid news judgment with thorough understanding of journalistic standards and values
Proficient with professional video cameras with a good visual eye
Genuine enthusiasm and strong sensibility for visual storytelling
Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, editing software and familiarity with codecs
Adept at lighting
Sound Knowledge of SEO and social media best practices
Self-motivated and disciplined with strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of DSLR cameras, lenses, lighting, panning and audio equipment.
This is a full-time freelance position, with potential to convert to staff in the future.
