The award is given annually to an individual or organization whose work exemplifies a spirit of hope and leadership that will help promote peace in the world.
Past winners of the Prize include: Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Barack Obama, Kofi Annan and Al Gore.
For the past 18 years, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony has been followed by a Nobel Peace Prize Concert, a musical celebration honoring the laureate. The concert is presented by the Nobel Peace Prize Concert AS, produced by IMG in cooperation with Eyeworks Dinamo and broadcast to a global audience.
Il Volo are coming off a good year in which their self entitled album "Il Volo," is now near the apex of the Billboard charts. The Italian trio of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble have also worked with Barbra Streisand a moment for them that they described as being "very exciting."
