Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam is one of the hottest stars today. The British actor was up for the role of Christian Grey in 50 Shades before having to drop out to accommodate his TV schedule. Now new casting rumors are popping up around Hunnam. Could Hunnam be starring in an Aquaman movie?
Sons of Anarchy is wrapping up its sixth season tonight on FX, meaning that the series has only one year left. While that might not be the best news for fans of the biker drama, it will free the actor up for future projects. One of those projects could be Warner Brother’s Aquaman. Could Hunnam be trading in the patch for a spandex and a trident?
Geoff Johns, DC’s Entertainment chief creative officer, spoke with Variety about the studio’s new focus on Aquaman:
“He’s a priority character for the company...There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the most well-known characters among super-heroes, and in popular culture...We are finding new areas in the ocean every day. It’s as alien as going to outer space.”
Johns is well aware of the trouble involved with an Aquaman project:
“He became a little bit of a joke. Suddenly, he was nobody’s favorite superhero.”
It was previously reported that WB was looking for Charlie Hunnam to play The Flash in a Justice League movie. However, the studio has recently committed the character to the CW’s Arrow. Now rumors are flying...swimming, actually...that Hunnam will be cast as Aquaman, although none of these rumors have yet to be confirmed.
