Tony Award Nominee Jeannette Bayardelle to Join Broadway Cast of '& Juliet'

Tony Award nominee Jeannette Bayardelle will play Angélique in the Broadway production of '& Juliet,' which opens at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Saturday, June 29.

Bayardelle will join the Broadway company while Charity Angél Dawson takes a temporary leave of absence from the play.

'& Juliet' features a score of pop singles by Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Max Martin, reimagining Shakespeare's classic drama if its title heroine had lived. The nine-time Tony-nominated production has a book by David West Read, direction by Luke Sheppard, and choreography by Jennifer Weber.

The current cast includes Maya Boyd as Juliet, Olivier Award-winner David Bedella as Lance, Tony Award nominee Betsy Wolfe as Anne Hathaway, Austin Scott as Shakespeare, Justin David Sullivan as May, Ben Jackson Walker as Romeo, and Philippe Arroyo as Francois, with Daniel Assetta, Andrew Chappelle, Michael Iván Carrier, Phil Colgan, Virgil Gadson, Najah Hetsberger, Makai Hernandez, Bobby "Pocket" Horner, Joomin Hwang, Megan Kane, Alaina Vi Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Brittany Nicholas, Ava Noble, Jasmine Rafael, Matt Raffy, Tiernan Tunnicliffe, and Rachel Webb.

'& Juliet' will have its sixth national debut this year with its UK Tour in July 2024, North American Tour in September 2024, and German production in October 2024, after its West End premiere in 2019. '& Juliet' has been performed on four continents with productions in Singapore and Australia ((currently in Sydney through July 12).

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of '& Juliet' was released in October 2022 on Atlantic Records and is available wherever streaming music is played.

Furthermore, Bayardelle's portrayal of Mrs. Neilsen in Broadway's 'Girl From the North Country' earned her a Tony nomination. Additional Broadway credits are Celie from 'The Color Purple and Dionne from Hair,' 'Off-Broadway: SHIDA' (Ars Nova), 'Girl From the North Country' (The Public Theater), 'Rock of Ages' (New World Stages), and 'The Harder They Come' (The Public Theater). National Regional: 'The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical' (La Jolla Playhouse), 'Gun and Powder' (Paper Mill Playhouse).
