Rising Singer-Songwriter Jobi Riccio Will Make a Return to Newport Folk Festival Alongside Upcoming Tour

Colorado-native, Tennesse-based singer-songwriter Jobi Riccio, whose highly acclaimed breakout album "Whiplash" is out now via Yep Roc Records, is set to return to this year's iteration of the legendary Newport Folk Festival.

This upcoming appearance marks Riccio's second consecutive year at the event, which will take place this coming July 28 at the Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, as announced last Wednesday, April 3.

Jobi Riccio's Meteoric Rise to Fame

The Americana artist's stacked year follows an equally successful period. For one, Riccio was recognized in the 2023 edition of the folk-oriented festival and given the coveted John Prine Songwriters Fellowship Award.

She bagged the honor after her appearances on the event's stage, often while collaborating with other notable artists. Since then, she has achieved her first TV appearance milestone, appearing on CBS Saturday's "Saturday Sessions."

On top of the upcoming festival appearance, Riccio also has her plate full of touring appearances alongside the likes of Ason Isbell, Brandy Clark, The Wood Brothers, Willi Carlile, and Molly Tuttle.

Because of this sudden spurt of activities, fresh from releasing a well-received record, Riccio has promptly accrued a mountain of praise from The New York Times, NPR Music, Stereogum, Billboard, The Tennessean, and MOJO, among others.

Speaking of her "Whiplash" album, last week marked its 40th consecutive week at the AMA/CDX Top 50 Album Chart.

Written during a tumultuous and wide-spanning period of growth in Riccio's life, the record is a collection of tunes soaked in introspection-laden themes and given life through a mix of American soundscapes like classic folk and country with a "modern" spin of indie and atmospheric production.

Perhaps the best encapsulating track from the project is her "For Me It's You," a heartfelt and melancholic "love song" about watching someone she cares about feel the same aching affection towards someone, but not with her.
