Transformers 4: Age of Extinction just finished filming in Hong Kong, and the official movie trailer countdown has begun. In the meantime, a new video has been leaked from the set that implies that Optimus Prime will die in the new film. While facing his impending death, he charges Mark Wahlberg to lead the new Autobots and Dinobots.
****Warning Spoiler Alert****
Transformers 4 is on its way and with it, a lot of changes to the universe. The film is considered a soft reboot of the franchise. A large amount of new characters, both human and robot, are expected for the film. Director Micheal Bay spoke with The Times last year about handing over the reigns after the new film. He also spoke about the new cast of Autobots:
“Here’s the thing, it’s tough to find someone who’s done these kind of movies, and to have the complication of creating the new stuff that needs to be in this movie--not just characters but a new type of action, I hope--and that’s a lot for someone new to bite off. And so after this one I will leave it in the best hands possible. That’s the plan.”
Among the list of new characters is Mark Wahlberg, who told Jay Leno earlier in the year about how Bay roped him into the film:
“We’re doing a complete reboot of the Transformers. I did a movie with Michael Bay called Pain and Gain, which comes out in April. And we had an amazing time together and really hit it off, and he said ‘Hey, you want to do this other little movie I’m doing?’ Because that was a little movie, and I said ‘Yeah, I like doing little movies.' And he said Transformers. Whoa! You know what, we had such a great experience, I’m in.”
A video was leaked from the set in Hong Kong that implies Optimus Prime will die in the new film. Hollywood Hills managed to translate the video's voice over, which shows Optimus Prime saying his goodbyes to both Wahlberg (Cade) and the Autobots:
"There remains a price on my head, and I risk endangering you if I stay. Cade when you find the remaining stones, mark one as my soul. Defend this family Autobots, as they have you, goodbye, don't forget me."
