He may be known for his trend-setting animated series Family Guy and his raunchy buddy comedy Ted, but Seth MacFarlane isn't only interested in laughs. Since 2011, MacFarlane has released three albums of American standards from the '50s and '60s, with his latest, No One Ever Tells You, receiving a 2016 Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal. And it is for those contributions that Barbara Sinatra will be honoring MacFarlane with the Special Achievement Award for the Performing Arts at the 28th annual Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational on February 20.
At 42 years old, Seth MacFarlane is seen more as a television producer, voice actor, and filmmaker by most of his adoring fans, but the well-known funnyman has been fast making a name for himself as the next great American crooner, as well.
Following the success of his debut album Music is Better than Words, which received two Grammy nominations back in 2011, MacFarlane has gone on to release two more critically acclaimed albums that also feature orchestral interpretations of classic American hits: Holiday for Swing, in 2013 and last year's, No One Never Tell You.
In a recent statement, Babs Sinatra expressed her excitement to have the name behind Ted and Family Guy on hand for the annual charity event, founded in 1988 to raise funds for the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage (via Desert Sun):
"I am thrilled that Seth will be one of our special guests for the weekend that celebrates what would have been Frank's 100th year. Seth is an amazing talent."
"I am personally looking forward to honoring him for his accomplished career and giving him the opportunity to see the outstanding work that is undertaken at our Children's Center."
Director of the two-day pro-am tournament held at Eagle Falls Golf Course, Mary Martin echoed Barbara's sentiments, expressing how grateful everyone was to have someone so clearly in tune with the spirit Frank on hand for the event (via Jazziz):
"We're so honored that Seth will be attending our tournament to receive this special award recognizing him for his musical talent and efforts to keep the spirit of the legendary Frank Sinatra alive."
To get your tickets to the charity event, be sure to head on over to the tournament's official website, or call at (760) 674-8447.
