Russian soprano Anna Netrebko tied the knot Tuesday morning to her beau, Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov. The ceremony, which accommodated only a small circle of friends and family, took place at the Palais Coburg in Vienna.
An operatic power couple, the wedding was adorned in royal detail at the Palais Coburg. According to reports, Netrebko sported an 18-carat white gold and diamond tiara the likes of Kate Middleton's with an estimated value of $1.09 million.
Among the 180 guests in attendance was tenor superstar, Placido Domingo. After the ceremony, the celebration continued in Hercules Hall and it was planned to last until the morning hours.
Initially, it was announced that the wedding would be held in St. Petersburg but was subject to a last minute venue change.
The Russian diva announced her engagement to Eyvazov only months after she separated from Uruguayan bass-baritone, Erwin Schrott. News of Netrebko's nuptials with Eyvazov so soon after her previous beau shocked both her fans and the media.
Perhaps one of the most famous opera singers in the world, Anna Netrebko made a sensational debut as Lady Macbeth earlier this year at the Metropolitan Opera. Considered to be a "crazy gamble," the performance was met with much praise and acclaim.
The singer cancelled several performances earlier in the year due to illness. Nonetheless, the wedding went off without a hitch and was even filmed and posted to YouTube. A beautiful engagement and an even more beautiful ceremony, we at Classicalite congratulate the new couple and wish them well in all of their future endeavors.
So without further ado, check out a small portion of the grand wedding between Netrebko and Eyvazov below.
