Is William ‘Refrigerator’ Perry Dead? Former Chicago Bears Player Victim of Celebrity Death Hoax [RUMOR]

If you’ve been online today, you may be wondering if former Chicago Bears Player, William “Refrigerator” Perry, is dead. Turns out the football legend was a victim...of a celebrity death hoax. Rumors of his passing are totally fabricated and the star even tweeted testifying to his well being.

The rumors started in a most unusual way. Usually with celebrity death hoaxes, they stem from some intentionally fabricated social media story.

It seems, however, that this began accidently. Perry once played for the Clemson Tigers before being famously drafted to the Bears in 1985.

Turns out the staff of Clemson Tiger Net heard a report that a William Perry passed away and believed it to be Refrigerator. They incorrectly tweeted their condolences, telling their followers that the Fridge was no more. Once aware of their mistake, the company clarified:

"There were several reports on Twitter this morning of William Perry's passing, but it appears it was another William Perry that caused the confusion."

Adam Plotkin, Perry’s agent, quickly issued the following statement:

“I know he is not dead,” Perry’s agent, Adam Plotkin, told the Tribune. “I talked to Michael Dean (Perry) a few minutes ago. And I know the Bears were down there interviewing Fridge on Saturday for coach (Mike) Ditka’s (jersey) retirement. But I did talk to Michael Dean, and he had gotten some calls, too, and Michael Dean said it was OK to confirm that Fridge is fine. I guess someone called Michael Dean and said that someone found out that someone named William Perry died, but it wasn’t the Fridge. Someone from Clemson called us as well and said they had been getting a lot of calls and stuff. He is completely fine."

Perry, himself, took to twitter, relieving fans' worries and assuring them that their footbal icon was still safe and sound.
