Philadelphia 76ers Continue Rebuild After Injuries, New Ben Franklin Logo

The Philadelphia 76ers have been in rebuild mode for what seems like an enternity. With many of their top draft picks from the past few years getting injured before or near the start of the season, the Sixers haven't been able to form a competitive group to stay on the floor together. Both fans and teams have started to wonder if this quasi-tanking job was really going to work and restart the franchise with young talented players. The rebuild of the team hasn't stopped at the players. The new team logo is of Ben Franklin dressed in 76er attire and dribbling a basketball, an awesome idea and just the thing to get a sluggish fan base excited.

Even with how cool this design is, the Sixers have found a way to sour the excitement by not having it as the primary logo. The new logo has been seen occasionally in the past but nothing has been official until now. ESPN was able to give to some insight into the brief history of the logo:

"The Franklin logo, variously referred to as Dribbling Ben, Running Ben, and Ballin' Ben, first surfaced last June and was met with near-unanimous praise."

With "near-unanimous praise," you would think that Sixers would treat their fans to something to look forward to, but no that's not how this organization works.

And with another season of being a cellar dweller, the 76ers find themselves again near the top of the draft lottery. But according to Fansided Hoops Habit, that doesn't seem to be the case for long:

"Expediting the Sixers rebuilding process would go against their notion of 'together we build.' Hinkie values talent, the quest for elite talent and the lengthy process that comes with rebuilding. It's universal that Hinkie and management strive for the chance to be elite and not just good."

What do you think of the new Philadelphia 76ers Running Ben logo? Do you think this is the year the Sixers are able to return to competitiveness? Tell us what you think.
