The world-renowned Spanish opera tenor, Placido Domingo, has canceled his performance with the Austrian sensation Conchita Wurst due to health problems, according to the Vienna State Opera.
Per Fox News: "In a brief statement, the Vienna State Opera regretted that Domingo could not participate in the 'Pop meets Opera' show, organized within the scheduled events held on the sidelines of the Eurovision Song Contest, whose final event will be held in Vienna on May 23."
They went on to say that Domingo will be replaced by none other than the Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez.
And if that weren't enough, Domingo has also suspended his performance in Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco from May 10–14. However, he will return to Vienna and perform on stage from May 18–22.
Most know Domingo as an international phenom. Though, for those under a rock, Conchita Wurst is the winner of the 2014 Eurovision Award.
Enjoying a meteoric rise to fame, Wurst (a.k.a. Tom Neuwirth) has gone from a bearded drag queen shrouded in mystery to the face of the LGBTQ equality in movement in Europe and across the globe.
The artist won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 performing "Rise Like a Phoenix," which has proved to be her claim to fame.
For now, get down with Conchita below and keep an eye out for Mr. Domingo and his future performances.
