Convicted Murderer Phil Spector to Die in Prison? [NEWS UPDATE]

After revolutionizing the recording business at the height of his career, it seems that legendary record producer, Phil Spector -- responsible for hits like Everly Brothers' "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" and the Ronettes' "Be My Baby" -- will go down in the history books as the murderer of actress Lana Clarkson, instead of the venerated inventor of "The Wall of Sound". According to the latest gossip news updates, the California Courts are seemingly unmoved by the revelations that the 74-year-old is virtually on his death bed. His lawyers' petition that the Court expedite its decision regarding Phil's new appeal has been categorically denied. Word has it that Spector and his family fear he will die in prison in the very near future -- forever unable to exonerate his gun-toting good name.

Despite having been convicted not once, but twice, for the murder of Lana Clarkson as well as having his appeal already denied by the Supreme Court of the United States, Phil Spector is still said to be doggedly trying to salvage his reputation before it too late.

In a petition to the California Court, Spector's lawyers asked that the State consider coming to a decision more quickly in regards to Phil appeal, because it was likely he would not make it until the original date set for fall 2015 (via Radar Online):

"He is currently in the custody of the State at the hospital facility at Stockton (California Health Care Facility).

"His counsel feels compelled to inform the Court that Mr. Spector is frail, and in ill health with an assortment of serious maladies.

"Any consideration the Court can provide in expediting its decision in this matter will be deeply appreciated.'"

Unfortunately for Phil and his legal team, Judge Paul Abrams has handed down the Court's decision and it looks like Spector had better try to hold out to September after all:

"The Motion is denied to the extent it seeks the issuance of the Report & Recommendation prior to that time."

A close friend of the Spector family reveals in the May 4, issue of the National Enquirer that Phil and his family are pretty sure this last loss will be his final failed battle in the war to determine the content of his legacy:

"Phil may have lost his last chance to clear his name.

"And is he dies a murderer, it will forever tarnish his reputation as a musical genius and rock 'n' roll god.

"If Phil dies in jail, his murder conviction will likely be his lasting legacy!"

Being that right now he stands a twice convicted killer, perhaps Phil Spector deserves the reputation that will likely be afforded him when he passes away.
