The Great Gatsby Releases Three Tracks Ahead of Complete Cast Album Release
The release of The Great Gatsby's cast album has been postponed from June 21 to June 28. All is not lost, however, as Sony Masterworks has published three tracks early: Roaring On, featuring Nick Carraway; Gatsby's heartfelt Past is Catching Up to Me, and his duet with Daisy, My Green Light, are now available on all major streaming platforms.
The musical stars Jeremy Jordans as Jay Gatsby, Eva Noblezeda as Daisy Buchanan, and Noah Ricketts as Nick Carraway. Its music and lyrics were written by Tony nominees Nathan Tysen and Jason Howland, and its book comes from Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan.
Producer Chunsoo Shin says the musical "provides a modern audience with the true essence of idealism that is expressed eloquently in the novel and now on stage. The Great Gatsby is a masterpiece that grows and changes as it's experienced by each new generation, in every culture, and people-and yet, still maintains its uniqueness, with its fascinating characters that burst with vitality."
The plot is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's seminal novel about the mysterious, eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby, and his pursuit of his past romance, Daisy Buchanan. The story is set in the extravagance of the Roaring Twenties, and features a score blending pop and jazz influences. Following the release of the digital album, the physical CD set will be released on Aug. 2.
