Cosmo Sheldrake Shares Two New Singles Off of His Upcoming Album ‘Eye to the Ear’

Cosmo Sheldrake, a London-born multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, accomplished live improviser, and field recordist, is shaking up the mundane with his two new singles "Interdimensional" and "I Stitched My Mind Back to My Body."

The tracks, which were released last Friday, March 22, are part of Sheldrake's much-awaited second studio album: "Eye to the Ear," out April 12 through Tardigrade Records.

They also come off the heels of other singles from the album, including "Stop the Music" and "Does the Swallow Dream of Flying," both of which have surpassed the million streams mark within a week of their release. Additionally, Sheldrake also shared "Old Ocean."

Of the new songs, Sheldrake said: "'Interdimensional' felt as though it came almost in one long thought, but it took about four all-night sessions for it to emerge."

"It is another one that came to me while on a solo musical retreat in Somerset. It is about the feeling of losing the normal sense of self, and features the wonderful HOWL," he added, mentioning the nine-piece female and non-binary choir.

For "I Stitched My Mind Back to My Body," on the other hand, Sheldrake said it was the first track he finished in his new recording studio and started with him just "shuffling around" in the new space; "stomping and clapping trying to find the best sweet spot on the floor for a good stomp."

"I like how much the sound of the space itself is present," he continued, abstractly defining the song as an attempt to "fuse the body and mind after centuries of unsuccessful attempts to prise them apart."

You can now stream both "Interdimensional" and "I Stitched My Mind Back to My Body" by clicking their respective titles. Also, you can watch the former's live performance below.

About Cosmo Sheldrake's 'Eye to the Ear'

It seems that much of the tracks in Sheldrake's forthcoming record, which follows his first full-length album from 2018: "The Much Much How How and I," see the artist explore a wide range of vast and intimate sonic "flavors."

From soulful ballads featuring HOWL to haunting polyphonic songs that sprawled out sonically from field recordings of curlews, whales, fish, and frogs, Sheldrake is continuing his "ethereal conversations" with the diverse rhythms and tones of the living world that he first initiated on his 2020 "Wake Up Calls" and 2023 "Wild Wet World" records.

In essence, the new album is an ever-transforming journey that pulls elements from distinct soundscapes like folk, jazz, electronic, and even experimental pop, all underscored by Sheldrake's ubiquitous sense of musical humor.

"Eye to the Ear" is produced by Sheldrake himself and mixed by Dilip Harris, who has worked with the likes of King Krule, Micachu, and Mount Kimbie.

The album is shaping up to be the artist's most accomplished creation to date with its 21 tracks borne out of mixing traditional instrumentation, electronic production, and field recordings, bringing forth the inherent musicality of our noisy world.
